Frequently Asked Questions
This FAQ has been developed from questions frequently asked by our customers. We remind you that the content of a frequently asked question is a set of answers that can only be general and indicative.

Use specially formulated soap for these floors. We strongly recommend that you apply maintenance oil as soon as you have finished laying your floor. This will make it more resistant to spills and stains. Use maintenance oil regularly to ensure the floor’s efficiency.

To liven up a tinted surface, apply the right tint of maintenance oil followed by a clear wood finish

Varnished floors expand and contract with changes in ambient temperature and humidity. Although this is normal, there’s a way to reduce their impact by making sure the rooms are well ventilated.

There are various types of warping. For example, concave warping can be caused by:

  • Moisture rising through the floor and causing the strips to warp;
  • Ambient air drying out the soil and causing shrinkage between the strips.

The humidity from the air often causes convex warping.

Warping due to fluctuations in ambient humidity can be corrected by using a humidifier or dehumidifier, depending on the case.

We recommend that you use specially formulated soap to clean your varnished floor.

If the floor is soiled, we recommend that you use a heavy-duty cleaning product to strip the surface. Then wipe the floor with a damp mop and apply a matt or satin metallic varnish to restore the surface.

Brushed floors should then be cleaned with a soft nylon brush, working with the grain.

This depends on your specific needs and situation.

Oiled finishes are particularly suitable if your floor is subject to heavy wear and tear. If an oiled floor is partially damaged – for example, by abrasives such as sand – it is possible to repair that specific area.

Varnished floors are highly durable and easy to maintain. We offer a wide range of floors and many types of finishes.

This will depend on several factors: whether you want a laminated or solid floor, the type of wood you prefer, whether you want the floor to be floated, glued or nailed down, and whether the strips are to be laid straight, diagonally or otherwise.

Other criteria will also come into play:

  • The lighting of the room and the colours of the walls and furniture. If the room is light enough, use a dark floor – and vice versa.
  • How much the room is used. A bedroom will have much less traffic than a hallway leading to the front door. Depending on how the flooring is used, you will have the choice from European or exotic wood species of varying sustainability.
  • If you live in an apartment, the rules specific to the building apply to the owners.
  • The characteristics of the subfloor.

Yes, but on certain conditions.

Kitchens can become humid and are prone to spills and other accidents.

However, it is possible to separate the kitchen island with tiles and install a varnished floor around it.

Some of our floors are specially designed for bathrooms. These are made of teak and tap wood, which do not rot and are resistant to water and mildew.

These floors will help keep the flooring stable in rooms with high humidity levels.

Dark floors emphasize the walls but make the room darker, so the room will need bright lighting and colours.

Plain, pale walls and floors create a feeling of space but should be spruced up with a little touch of texture and colour.

Feel free to ask us for colour samples to see if they match your wall covering, curtains, furniture, etc.

Installing a floor is easy these days; for instance, the click system is quick and requires very few tools. As for other types of flooring, just follow our instructions carefully, and you will succeed in installing your product.

If the project is more complex, for example, because of the specific nature of the subfloor, we recommend that you seek professional advice.

Yes, but on certain conditions.

The floor covering should only be laid on low-temperature heating systems installed after 1990 and operating at a temperature between 21°C and 24°C.

Based on our experience in the manufacturing of high-quality flooring, we recommend that you use specific products in this type of situation.

Our specifications will help you choose the right solution for you.

Yes.

Start by carefully degreasing the surface. Then make sure that there is no risk of moisture penetration. Finally, apply a primer before gluing; this will ensure that the floor covering adheres fully to the floor.

Solid floors are made from machined wooden parts. They are sometimes referred to as “traditional flooring.”

Depending on their thickness and width, solid floors can be floating (using a glued tongue and groove system) or fully glued.

Engineered flooring consists of a strip of solid wood at least 2.5 mm thick, glued to a plywood or cardboard panel which is then glued to a counterweight, balancing the tension in the wood and preventing it from bending.

Engineered flooring is manufactured using a high-tech process and is easy to install using snap-on assembly systems. It is also more environmentally friendly because it uses a limited amount of solid wood.

A good floor is one that is perfectly suited to the way it’s intended to be used. There are several key factors to consider in your decision:

  • the wear and tear of the floor;
  • it’s structure and finish;
  • it’s appearance.

Wood floors come with many advantages:

  • They’re durable: their lifespan is, on average, 50 years and can go up to 100 years. They’re also one of the few floor coverings that can easily be redesigned.
  • They’re natural and genuine, and hypoallergenic, as they do not retain or create dust.
  • They’re easy to maintain.
  • They’re resistant to wear and tear.
  • They have insulating and acoustic properties.
  • They have cosmetic qualities: wood is an intrinsically natural product that creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

To ensure the sustainability of a real varnished floor, the room in which it is installed should be used for regular day-to-day activities, and a preservation plan should also be followed. By taking precautionary measures, you will protect your floor against abrasive materials such as sand and gravel as well as furniture legs with well-suited casters (i.e. armchairs, TV consoles, etc.).

In other words, to make sure a varnished floor is sustainable, one must first choose the right type of wood and follow good cleaning practices:

  • Clean your floor regularly with a broom or vacuum cleaner.
  • Use a sponge or damp mop to remove the toughest dirt. Use neutral detergents that are ammonia, silicone or abrasive-free.
  • The wear and tear of your floor will depend on how well you clean and maintain it.
  • Avoid using water on your floor or getting it wet, and carefully wipe off mops before use.
  • If your floor is dirty, use specially formulated soap to preserve the finish of varnished floors.
  • Vacuum the floor carefully before applying the metallizing varnish to ensure that it is adequately covered.
