Ipe is know for being one of the hardest woods in the world from the Tropical Americas (central and south America). It’s hardwood can vary in color from darker blackish to brown; sometimes with contrasting darker brown/black stripes. Overall, Ipe is a difficult wood to work, being extremely hard and dense, with high cutting resistance during sawing. It is commonly used as flooring, decking, exterior lumber, veneer, tool handles and other objects.
