Jatoba is better known as Brazilian Cherry and grows in Central and South America ( Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, etc…). Its heartwood is salmon red to orange-brown when fresh, but becomes reddish-brown over time. Jatoba is very durable and dense. It is one of the hardest wood species in the world and is nearly twice as hard as Northern red Oak. Jatoba wood darkens when exposed to intense sunlight.
