Tigerwood has a heartwood that has a light orange-brown color with an irregular pattern of black stripes which makes it very decorative. After exposure, Tigerwood darkens to dark red-brown. The sapwood is easy to distinguish. This beautiful wood comes mainly from the Brazilian tropics and surroundings and is often used because of the decorative appearance but also due to typical hardwood properties (hardness and durability). Its uses range from flooring to musical instruments.
